State Track at UW-La Crosse 2010

This is how we found Joey. Alone and stocking up on water and potassium. He likes to spend some time alone before a race.
A really nice track - the stadium was recently renovated.
Yep, it rained. At least it wasn't real hot. They had wheel chair contestants also!

Joey (left in red) and the other runners coming out for the 3200 m race.
The line up. Joey (red) is between the two guys in blue.
The take off!
Joey at 15 years old, and a freshman. He was running with men.
After the race. There were 16 runners from around the state. Joey placed 15th and his time was 9:54 - his best time of the season.
The top six receive medals. These guys are all seniors. Joey plans on being on the podium next year :)
A happy guy after having dinner at the Trempealeau Hotel.
The morning we left. Oma has the best view in Wisconsin!

Fishin' by Oma, Maddie's Concert & Track stuff

The bluegills are starting to spawn. The males were on the nests!
Nice one Maddie - on her new pole!
It was hot on Sunday, so the kids went tubing with uncle Eb.
A couple of pictures of Maddie and her classmates playing in their Spring concert. Maddie enjoys playing the French horn.

This shows Joey running the first lap in the 3200 m run at regionals (at Valders)

This shows the final lap. He took third. A tough race for him. I did not get any video of the sectional meet - too dark, but a couple of pictures I'll post soon. Thanks for looking!

How quickly things change......

Joey asked Kayla to dance at Prom 4 weeks ago and they have been friends ever since. This picture was taken in Kayla's yard. They are going to the last dance (informal) of the school year together. Times have changed.
Kayla and Joey two days earlier at the Olympian Conference freshman-sophomore track meet

Easter Eggs and Track

The river calls..........
Coco bean.
Raven got away in the middle of getting clipped.
I showed Joey how to wire an outlet. The project is coming along.
Hmmm which color?
Roxy and Maddie spent part of an afternoon coloring eggs for Easter.
Nope, can't see through it!
Concentration?
Having fun!
Joey in the 3200m relay. He was the first to run and held a good postion for the number two man. Joey passed these guys :)
Michael, the number three man. The guys (3 freshman and 1 sophomore) were seeded 6th. They took first!
Joey in the the 1600m (1 mile). First time he ran it this year - he took 3rd.
Josh is a sophomore - a sprinter.
Ashley airborne in the triple jump.
Taylor - hopfully qualifies for state again this year.

Here Joey is on the last lap (400m) of the 3200m (2 miles -8 laps) run. He placed second behind a senior from Chilton, WI. Joey ran it in 10:20. Joey's goal is to go to state in this event (and hopefully the 3200 m relay), but he knows that by sectionals he has to run the 2 mile in under 10 minutes.
